Better Care for the community

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital opened two new pavilions and an expanded Emergency Department in February 2026. The new spaces allow us to better serve community in response to the ongoing need for more patient care services and expanded access to patient care.

The new pavilions have:

• Increased the total number of hospital beds to 210, including 168 inpatient beds, 24 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 18 postpartum beds
• Expanded the Emergency Department and enhanced diagnostic imaging equipment capabilities
• Improved access to care for our patients and the community
• Opened the doors for new specialty care services​

​The architecture and design of the new pavilions complement the rest of the hospital and the surrounding landscape.

• Native plants and plentiful areas of green space contribute to the healing environment of the campus.
• Walking trails are open to the public.

continued campus enhancements

While most of the construction was completed in February 2026, there will be continued renovation projects happening at Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital until March 2027. These projects allow us to repurpose and renovate spaces across the hospital’s campus.
